Just want to say I'm a huge fan and I love your work, man. Picked up a copy of your Vasquez print from Hero Complex at WonderCon and planning on ordering the Die Hard and Snake Plissken pink prints pretty soon as well. Hope all is well and I look forward to whatever you cook up next.

A

Nice! Really great to read those kind words. Thanks for picking up Vasquez and supporting my art. Means a lot. Definitely much more to come this year. Some big releases!

I'm sure this has been asked before...but how I can I purchase your art? Do you have prints for sale?

A

Hi! There’s a few available on Hero Complex Gallery’s online store from my recent solo show. http://www.herocomplexgallery.com/collections/craigdrake
I’ll have more from LTD gallery & Mondo in the coming months as well I believe

Hello! I'm an art student and I would really like to complete my latest project in a style similar to yours. Thus I'm here to ask if you could perhaps share your creative process, and perhaps how you create your compositions? Either way, I'm a huge fan of your work and it'd be great to hear from you. Thank You so much!

A

Heyo. That’s great to hear you’re stoked on this style. It’s a culmination of a lot of styles I was inspired by over the years. - I start with super rough sketches to block in composition (huge part of it) overlapping the sketch phase I also search for reference from film stills or likeness shots if it’s a character.
From there, I’ll move to the Wacom Cintiq where I use Illustrator to vector draw the image for color seps. If I’m to do an original gouache painting, sometimes that comes before the compu the process.

Hi Craig, I was wondering if I could commission you to do a piece of art for me. I saw your gallery at Hero Complex, especially your 80's style work. Could you do something in that similar style but with the character Valeria from the Conan Barbarian movie from the eighties. She was the female warrior and love interest of the Arnold Schwarzenegger. Let me know how much you charge for an original piece of art from you. Thanks-AJ

A

Conan is a cool topic for sure. I’m not taking on any commissions. Sorry about that.

ctykty asked:

When you're in the sketching process, are you actively thinking of compositions? Your compositions are stunning and really eye catching

A

Heyo ctykty - Most definitely. Actually composition is the very first thing I try to work out. Sometimes it’s locked in right away, Other times I go nuts trying to get it right!

Q

wintertycoon asked:

Hey Craig, will you be also making a blue version with Thomas Bangalter opposite to the Daft Stance (Red) artwork? Would be awesome to have a combo like you did with your other Daft Punk roots artwork last year!

A

It already exists! If the red sells out then I’ll release the new Thomas blue.
